Process Not Product
A great idea is only great if it can be sustainably produced on a mass scale. The product is only part of the equation, it is the process that matters. As many have said, “Plans are worthless, planning is everything.” The ability to pivot, recognize and embrace change and to strategize is what can make or break innovation.
There are many elements that go into successfully bringing a product to market and it can be an intimidating journey to embark on if it's your first time! This talk will break down the ten key steps of design and development all the way from concept through to first run of production, giving you the knowledge you need to take control of your own project. We will discuss topics such as the pros and cons of manufacturing here in the US versus overseas, what stage you should be thinking about filing for patents or preparing a crowdfunding campaign, understanding the difference between a prototype and a sample and much more.
Bringing a product to market is not easy, but it is rewarding and our goal is to demystify the process and offer insight into the world of not only products but production.
Realized Designs Projects is the brainchild of Anna Finch and Brien Teasley, a wife and husband team with over 15 years of experience in bringing products to market headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. We specialize in design for manufacturing, which means we give you more than a rendering, we deliver a product in hand. Through domestic and international sourcing and manufacturing, in-house prototyping and partners across the globe, we look for the best way to make an idea into a reality.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
Anna leads the business side. With a background in international business and having lived and worked in China, she speaks the language of many of our factories and knows the nuances of the negotiation process.
Brien leads the design and development side. With over a decade of product design, development, direction and management, he has over 40 overseas trips to work directly on the factory floor.
